I wrote Crux Shawl for Stitch Red, which was created by Jimmy Beans Wool to bring awareness to heart disease in women. This issue has touched my life because I lost my sister at the very young age of 45 in 2011. While she didn’t have heart disease specifically, she did have pneumonia and if she had been more aware of the signs and symptoms she was experiencing, she may have sought treatment sooner. I encourage you to read up on heart disease in women and know the precursors, but most of all to seek medical treatment when you are sick.
I think of my sister daily, and especially miss her most during the holidays. My thoughts are with those of you who have lost loved ones and those you hold most dear.
A percentage of each Crux Shawl pattern sale goes back to Stitch Red. If you’re interested in what else you can buy that gives back, please visit StitchRed.com and see the other offerings that benefit this worthy cause.
I’d like to thank Caro from Splityarn for taking these amazing photos and wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends!
